You will have heard us talking about Explicit Informed Consent recently, but you may not know what EIC actually is. With this in mind, we’ve developed a mini crash-course on what EIC is and why it’s critical to operating your business.
EIC or Explicit Informed Consent is critical, mandatory requirement for each and every sale. Let’s break it down.
- Explicit: This means that the customer has been told clearly, fully and in simple terms all matters relating to the service they will be consenting to sign up for when ordering.
- Informed: This means that the customer knows what they are consenting to and that they fully understand all aspects of the agreement.
- Consent: This refers to the customer providing consent to Click Energy, either verbally over the phone, or by ticking the appropriate boxes during online sign up.
Now you know what EIC is, here’s why it’s important – if a customer does not provide EIC, they cannot enter into an agreement – as this is a legal requirement. Furthermore, only a customer can provide EIC – you cannot provide it on their behalf. Remember, keep it compliant!
