{"id":18017,"date":"2017-02-23T10:59:08","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T23:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.acnpacific.com\/ibo\/?p=18017"},"modified":"2018-04-09T10:25:33","modified_gmt":"2018-04-09T00:25:33","slug":"acn-launches-nbn-hfc-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acnpacific.com\/ibo\/acn-launches-nbn-hfc-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"ACN launches nbn&#x2122; HFC technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) is the latest technology to be released by NBN Co and we\u2019re thrilled to announce as of today, 23 February 2017, it\u2019s available for you to sell via ACN.<\/p>\n<p>HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) is a network technology developed by the cable TV industry that allows two-way, high-speed broadband content (video, voice and data) to be delivered to the home using a combination of fibre and coaxial cable.<\/p>\n<p>This new cable technology is a fantastic way for you to sign up more customers and grow your business with 900,000 premises forecasted to be Ready for Service using HFC by June 2017. The HFC opportunity is only set to get bigger with the roll out ramping up to 2 million premises Ready for Service by June 2018. If that\u2019s not enough to whet your appetite for nbn&#x2122;, HFC is forecasted to make up 24% of the overall nbn&#x2122; multi technology mix by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>As with all our products it\u2019s important you complete training so you can confidently sell the HFC opportunity to your warm market. So brush up on your nbn&#x2122; training and get up to speed with HFC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FAQs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is HFC?<\/strong><br \/>\nHFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) is a network technology developed by the cable TV industry that allows two-way, high-speed broadband content (video, voice and data) to be delivered to the home using a combination of fibre and coaxial cable.<\/p>\n<p>The local connection is fibre laid to a central &#8220;node&#8221; in a neighbourhood. Coaxial cable is then used to connect premises to this node. Coaxial cable is similar to the copper used to deliver ADSL or FTTN internet, but is insulated to prevent interference.<\/p>\n<p>nbn&#x2122; HFC utilises the existing HFC Coaxial cables by replacing the local fibre cable and nodes with a new fibre network connected to the nbn&#x2122;.<\/p>\n<p>H<strong>ow does my customer know if they are in the nbn&#x2122; HFC footprint?<\/strong><br \/>\nMost of the premises in the HFC footprint will be in capital cities where HFC connections are already used to provide pay TV (Foxtel) or cable internet. If the nbn&#x2122; rollout is being planned in their area they can check via our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acnpacific.com\/nbn-rollout-map\/\" target=\"_blank\">nbn&#x2122; rollout map<\/a>. To check if they are in the HFC footprint they need to ensure the \u201cShow service type\u201d underneath the map is set to \u201con\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What equipment does my customer need for HFC?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your customer already has a cable service, all they will require is a nbn&#x2122; Network Termination Device (NTD) and an ACN supplied modem.<\/p>\n<p>If your customer is new to cable, as well as the above, NBN Co will supply and install a nbn&#x2122; Premises Connection Device (PCD) to the outside of your customer\u2019s premise and wall plates.<\/p>\n<p>When instructed by ACN they\u2019ll need to connect the modem to the NBN Co supplied NTD\u00a0to fill their home or business with high speed internet. To power their nbn&#x2122; NTD and HFC compatible modem your customer will need a spare power outlet for each.<\/p>\n<p>If your customer is also subscribing to a pay TV service such as Foxtel via their HFC connection, they will also need a splitter (supplied by NBN Co) to ensure it keeps working.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is the nbn&#x2122; HFC Network Termination Device (NTD) different to other nbn&#x2122; technologies?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, whilst the FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) and Fixed Wireless (FW) devices are wall mounted units, the nbn&#x2122; HFC NTD is a small desk top unit. The HFC NTD also only has one Ethernet port on the back (unlike FTTN NTDs which have 4).
