ACN nbn™ broadband only and bundled broadband and phone services (“ACN nbn™ Services”) are supplied to customers in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in the ACN Standard Form of Agreement and the ACN Acceptable Use Policy ( ACN nbn™ services and offers are only available to credit approved customers.

ACN’s nbn™ services are offered as residential grade (best effort) services. This means that if you require Internet access in your home or small business location to access online banking, surf the Internet, download content, send and receive email etc., then the ACN products will more than satisfy your needs. ACN does not offer commercial or business grade nbn™ services that include but are not limited to fixed IP addresses, the use of your own domain name, 24x7 technical support or guaranteed bandwidth, speed or data throughput.

ACN’s nbn™ services are not available in all areas. Service availability maps provided are indicative only and do not mean that service can be provided to all addresses in an area. Equipment requirements: An ACN nbn™ service requires an ACN supplied nbn™ compatible modem or router at your address to function correctly and requires a mains power connection to operate the service.

nbn™ Broadband speeds: The actual line speed for an nbn™ service will vary due to many different factors including but not limited to, your nbn™ access technology, device(s) being used, number of users, the type and source of content you access and the Wi-Fi performance achievable in your home or office. Line speeds are not applicable where your service has been slowed/speed limited ('shaped') on an ACN nbn™ service with a monthly data quota. ACN does not offer the nbn™ 100 speed tier on nbn™ Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Basement or Fixed Wireless connections. Please see our Understanding the nbn™ speeds page for more information.

Data usage will be accrued in bytes (B) where 1KB = 1000B, 1MB = 1000KB and 1GB = 1000MB and includes both uploads and downloads. Peak and off peak usage is accrued separately. Any remaining data will not roll over to the following month and is not transferable. ACN will send notification emails to the email address you nominated for your ACN nbn™ service when you consume 50%, 85% and 100% of your plan’s data allowance.

Once the allocated monthly data limit for your plan has been reached, the service speed will be shaped to 128kbps. If your service speed is shaped, you may elect to purchase an additional data pack via our online customer service tool, MyAccount. MyAccount allows you to view the amount of data that you have used during your current billing cycle, change your plan or top up your data allowance by purchasing a data pack. This additional data allowance will expire at the end of your next bill cycle and may take up to an hour to take effect.

nbn™ appointments: If you are connecting to the nbn™ for the first time you may require an nbn™ technician to attend your home or office to activate your ACN nbn™ service. If your address requires an nbn™ technician appointment we will let you know via email and SMS. You will need to ensure someone over the age of 18 is present at the time to provide access to your home or office. If your home or office is in a building, you should ensure that someone is present to provide access to the building communications cabinet or basement.

If you need to reschedule an nbn™ appointment time you will need to contact ACN at least three business day prior to your scheduled appointment date to avoid incurring a $220 rescheduling fee. This fee will also be applied if you or someone over the age of 18 is not present for your scheduled technician appointment.

New development charge: An additional one off $300 “New Development charge” will be applied by nbn™ if your address is identified by NBN Co as being within the site boundary of a new development. You can find more information on this charge and when it applies here.

ACN Companion enables you to use an ACN Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service from your mobile phone or tablet, whenever and wherever you want. Using the ACN Companion app for iPhone® and Android™ devices, you can extend the benefits of your call inclusions (including unlimited calls) to your mobile and/or tablet.

  • Use the call inclusions of your ACN digital phone service even when you’re not at home via the ACN Companion app on your mobile or tablet
  • No contract term and only a small flat fee per month so it’s easy to cancel or re-register
  • When you’re in areas with poor mobile coverage, you can still make high quality calls over Wi-Fi
  • Avoid roaming fees when travelling overseas by making and receiving calls over Wi-Fi
  • Regardless of where you are in the world you can receive calls to your household phone on your mobile or tablet
  • You don’t need a handset at home as you can use your mobile for all your calling needs

  • Boost Speed: Provides access based upon the nbn™ 25 tier
  • Turbo Speed: Provides access based upon the nbn™ 50 tier
  • Max Speed: Provides access based upon the nbn™ 100 tier

Factors that could affect your nbn™ access speeds

nbn™ access technology: nbn™ FTTN and FTTB access speeds can be impacted by the length and quality of the copper leading into or in your property.

Coexistence Period: nbn™ FTTN and FTTB services are limited during this period and as a result will generally provide slower download and upload speeds. This period is required to ensure that existing DSL and legacy phone services on the copper network are able to co-exist with the newer nbn™ services.

Equipment: Hardware and software configuration of device(s) being used to access the internet.

WiFi: Your modem/router’s Wi-Fi capability, the size of your house, internals wall, baby monitors, cordless phones, other Wi-Fi networks in close proximity, Bluetooth® devices just to name a few.

Content source: The server delivering your content may be running slowly due to a heightened demand.

Number of devices connected: Your internet can slow when multiple device share the same connection.

Peak times: Internet speeds typically slow during busy peak times

Upgrading and downgrading your speed tier

You can upgrade or downgrade your speed tier via MyAccount. You may only change your speed tier once per billing cycle.

Your upgraded speed tier will be applied within 2 business days of submission through MyAccount. Your new speed tier will be billed in advance from your next bill cycle date.

You may downgrade your speed tier to the lowest speed offered on your plan. Your downgraded speed will commence upon your next billing cycle date. You may only downgrade your speed tier twice during a 12 month period.

ACN nbn™ Modem/Router

Sign up to a 24 month contract on any of our nbn™ plans and we’ll throw in a Wi-Fi modem or router plus delivery for FREE.

If you prefer a shorter 12 month contract, simply pay a one-off $40 for a Wi-Fi modem or router plus $13.95 delivery.

Please note ACN Companion is not a fixed line replacement service and certain call types may not be available including ‘000’ calls. We recommend you purchase an ACN Phone Adaptor (included on the ACN Ultimate Bundle) if you require a replacement fixed line service.

ACN Phone Adaptor

Sign up to our Ultimate bundle plan and we’ll throw in an ACN Phone Adaptor for FREE. If you prefer one of our other bundle plans, you have the option of purchasing the ACN Phone Adaptor for an additional $20.00.

Our simple adaptor enables high-quality calls through your broadband service using your existing analogue or digital cordless home phone. The adaptor is super easy to set up and will require the use of one of your spare modem/router LAN ports.

Unlike traditional telephone services, the ACN Phone Adaptor does not function in the event of a power disruption/failure or an Internet outage. If there is an interruption to the power supply, the service, including ‘000’ dialling will not function until power is restored.

ACN’s Digital Phone Service (via ACN Companion or the ACN Phone Adaptor) is not suitable if you are a customer with a serious illness or life threatening condition, if you require disability services, if you have a back-to-base home alarm system or if you require an uninterrupted phone line.
