From 1 November 2016, some new processing fees including paper bill and payment fees will be introduced which may apply to many EnergyAustralia customers.

What are the fees?

  • Paper bill fee: $1.69 (incl. GST)
  • Over the counter payment fee at Australia Post: $1.91 (incl. GST)
  • Credit card: Visa or MasterCard 0.36% and American Express 1.5%. If a direct debit is from one of these credit cards, no fee will apply.

How can customers avoid the paper bill fees?

It’s easy for customers to avoid the fee by setting up eBilling – the bill will be sent to their preferred email address.

How can customers avoid the payment fees?

The best way for customers to avoid these fees is by either setting up a direct debit from a credit card or bank account, making a payment by cheque or paying through a bank account via BPAY.

Can customers still pay with a credit card and avoid the credit card fee?

Yes. Customers can continue to use their credit card without incurring the fees by setting up a direct debit with fortnightly or monthly instalments on a set date of their choice.

How much does it cost for customers to make a payment via Electronic Funds Transfer?

There is no charge to make a payment via Electronic funds transfer (EFT) or via BPAY from a cheque or savings account

EnergyAustralia has already begun publishing notices regarding this change in major national newspapers, and customers will be sent printed communications notifying them of these upcoming changes.
