We want to keep you up to date with upcoming changes to the MATE Mobile plan range so you can clearly communicate them to your customers.
From Wednesday, 3 September 2025, MATE plans will receive more data, bigger databanks on some plans, and 5G upgrades, along with some small price adjustments to ensure they remain competitive and continue delivering great value.
- Updated data inclusions for existing customers from 3 September.
- New pricing applying from each customer’s next billing cycle.
- Notices for existing customers started going out last week.
Plans being removed from the MATE Mobile offer
These plans will be grandfathered, removed from sale for new customers, but existing customers will automatically receive more data and the updated price from their next billing cycle.

Other important changes
From 1 September 2025, all payments made with a Visa or Mastercard will attract a 1% surcharge.
From 25 August 2025, customers can switch to direct debit from a bank account via the myMATE app or Self-Care Portal to make surcharge-free payments.

Why the changes?
Increasing wholesale costs, consumer demand for higher speeds, rising data usage, and new government regulations have made these adjustments necessary. While MATE works hard to absorb costs where possible, a small retail price increase will help ensure customers continue to receive generous data inclusions, fast 5G speeds, and great Australian-based support.
What this means for your conversations with customers:
- Highlight the extra data, 5G upgrades, and larger databanks on some plans.
- Position the plans as competitive, 5G-ready, and with generous databanks.
- Remind them about switching to direct debit to avoid the card surcharge.
